MISSOURI — A Missouri police officer who crashed his patrol car into a car driven by a suspect who then fled the scene in a stolen vehicle has been charged with felony driving under the influence.
According to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office, Sgt. Michael Kowalski was riding his motorcycle when he saw the stolen vehicle on Interstate 70 near Missouri City and collided with the vehicle’s rear end.
The suspect fled the area, according to a police statement, and was later found in the woods near Interstate 35.
The driver in the stolen car then drove westbound on I-35 and hit a tree.
The driver was later taken into custody and later charged with one count of felony reckless driving.
The charge was dropped.
