Lyon’s ‘scandalous’ arrest of Lyon player is the ‘most important’ of the season

Lyon have confirmed the arrest of an unnamed player in their squad for an alleged drug offence.

The player was not in charge of the team at the time, but was arrested after the match.

He was later released on bail.

A Lyon spokesman said: “We’re very disappointed.

We will discuss this further with the player.”

He added: “The club will take appropriate action to protect its players.”

Lyon are yet to comment on the arrest.

The team are expected to play the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen in Lyon’s city centre on Saturday.

The club are due to return to action at the Stade Velodrome on Monday against Paris Saint-Germain.
